THE HISTORY

The Peter Allen House is the oldest home in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, dating to 1726. This elegant, 5000 square foot mountain stone landmark, situated in Clark's Valley, was fashioned by 18th Century trader/surveyor Peter Allen.

It served as the elegant host and signature trading post for migrating settlers of the colonial, pre-Revolutionary western frontier.

Throughout most of the 19th Century, the Peter Allen House served as an inn, tavern and hotel. It was a welcome stop on what was then known as the Sunbury Turnpike. The grounds of the Peter Allen House boast handsome outdoor structures, including a magnificent carriage house and a two-story stone stable. Its beautifully landscaped gardens cater to discriminating tastes and a variety of occasions.
